Ways to Keep the Baby Healthy and Fit

Every mom dreads to see their baby in agony during sickness.  The newborns have a weak immune system.  If only you had a magic wand that would fend off germs and keep your baby healthy and fit forever.  Isn’t that what every mom wishes for?  We may not have a magic wand but we do have safety tips that can keep germs at bay.

Wash them away

The basic and the simplest safety rule to keep your baby healthy and fit is washing the germs away.  Get into the habit of washing your hands and your baby’s hand after every short interval.  Some may think you are paranoid or find it nagging, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, to keep your baby from bacteria and virus.  In case you have visitors, request them to wash their hands thoroughly before they get close to your baby.  Each time you come home from somewhere outside, walk straight to the sink to wash your hands with soap and water before you do anything else.  Lather on soap and rub for minimum twenty seconds before you run it under the water.  In case, you are somewhere where there is no water and soap, keep hand sanitizer handy.

Less of venturing out

It is imperative to avoid venturing out into crowded places like shopping centers, restaurants, etc.  Prevention is always better than cure.  If keeping your baby healthy and fit is your priority, don’t take chances by going to places which have the possibility of bringing home a bagful of germs.  Find ways to entertain you and your baby within the walls of your home, especially during the flu season.

Immunization

Baby’s immunization is nevertheless of utmost importance.  You must get the vaccination done at scheduled time.  However, you must ensure that you and your partner must get your flu shots too.  In order to protect your baby from flu and whooping cough, you must take care that no one falls sick in the house.  Keep out sick visitors.  Request your sick guests to postpone their visit to your house.

Breastfeeding

Breast milk is the healthiest drink for any baby.  In case, you do come down with a cold or flu, you must continue to breastfeed your baby.  This way, you will be passing on the antibodies through your breast milk. This will help your baby build his immunity.

Itchy rashes

Hygiene is necessary.  Make it a habit to check your baby’s bottom after short gap.  Never leave your baby in a dirty diaper for too long.  Babies are the most irritable when they experience diaper rash.  Rashes erupt in moist and warm places.  This happens when babies are left unattended for a long duration.

Spick and span

It is of vital importance to keep everything in your baby’s surrounding as neat as a new pin.  If your home harbors germs, your baby may be easily infected, especially when he learns to roll over or crawl.

Healthy eating

If your baby is eating food filled with nutrients like vitamin and minerals, he may be developing a better immune system that would protects him from viral and bacterial infections.  Include healthy fruits and vegetables in your baby’s diet.
